For the past 4 years, Mary has focused exclusively on treatments and processes that reduce or eliminate persistent pain. She was trained by Howard Shubiner, MD in his "Unlearn Your Pain" approach and has attended training with Jon Kabat-Zinn and Saki Santorelli, in their Mind-Body Medicine Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction program. Mary has extensive specialized training in enhancing Neuroplasticity and Brain Regulation; in Understanding and Managing Chronic Pain; and in delivering solutions for the Neurobiology of Depression and Anxiety. Stress and chronic pain have known links. Effective treatments readily crossover from the chronic pain field to address all manifestations of stress.
Mary is an expert in tool delivery. Through Undefended Heart, she is pleased to empower individuals and groups to live and work more efficiently, effectively and happily particularly in family and workplace settings. She supports people in workplaces to create unified environments in order to fulfill their mission. She has been a major force in the transformation of several workplace settings in which she was employed herself, and looks forward to assisting you.
Prior to her focus on pain reduction, Mary spent many years as a licensed therapist and has been active on her own health journey. She learned to meditate at age 23, and has had a regular meditation practice since that time. Mary earned her Masters in Social Work degree from California State University in 1985 and a BA in Community Studies from the University of California in 1981. In addition to her work with Undefended Heart, Mary also has a private practice where she helps clients reduce or eliminate Chronic Pain through www.WellnessPainCare.com.
